Nichlas Overgaard is a classical guitarist born in 2001, Denmark, and started playing the guitar at the age of seven. He has since established himself as a soloist, performing at several cultural venues and festive events all across Denmark such as Tivoli, Aalborg Kongrescenter, Musikkens hus, RDAM-concerthall, Louisiana, Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi (Cremona) The Betty Nansen Theater, and many more.

Nichlas studied at MGK-hovedstaden under the mentorship of acclaimed guitarist, Niklas Johansen. He is currently studying his master’s degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, under Professor Jesper Sivebæk. Additionally, he has had the privilege of receiving masterclasses from world-renowned guitarists such as Marcin Dylla, Roberto Aussel, Judicäel Perroy, Carlo Marchione, Petra Poláčková and David Russell.

In 2025 Nichlas was chosen to be given the Jacob Gade Foundation’s Big Prize. Same year he got nominated and selected to receive the Talent Prize by the Danish Guitar Society.
Nichlas recieved 1. prize at Aalborg International Guitar festival youth competition in 2018 and in 2024 won the 3. prize and audience prize in the adult category. In 2023 and 2025 he earned 1. prize in the Erik Satie competition in collaboration with flutist, Sille Enevoldsen and flutist, Anna Lohmann Hesselhøj, and in 2026 Nichlas won 1. prize in Rued Langgaard competition with soprano, Siri Sofia Glasdam Jakobsen.

Besides performing as a soloist, Nichlas has extensive experience in various chamber music settings, performing with a diverse range of ensembles.
In 2025 he toured with Concerto Copenhagen and Sankt Annæ Girls Choir throughout Denmark, Germany and Italy led by Anne-Terese Sales.
Nichlas also plays the Lute having performed with Copenhagen Phil. He’s also the co-founder of the baroque ensemble ELIS.

Nichlas has also premiered several contemporary works by composers such as Anton Lindström, Finn Mattingly, Marianna Filippi, Anne-Terese Sales/Christian Berg and Anders Nordentoft/Pernille Kaufmann, and in 2025 Nichlas recorded his first album AL-MA featuring singer Ronnie Aroeti.

His repertoire spans from emotionally evocative classical compositions to innovative ear catching jazz arrangements of popular songs.
