Nichlas Overgaard is a classical guitarist born in 2001, Denmark, and started playing the guitar at the age of seven. He has since established himself as a soloist, performing at several cultural venues and festive events all across Denmark such as Tivoli, Aalborg Kongrescenter, Musikkens hus, RDAM-concerthall, The Betty Nansen Theater, and much more.
Nichlas studied at MGK-hovedstaden under the mentorship of acclaimed guitarist, Niklas Johansen. He is currently studying his master’s degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, under Professor Jesper Sivebæk. Additionally, he has had the privilege of receiving masterclasses from world-renowned guitarists such as Marcin Dylla, Roberto Aussel, Judicäel Perroy, Carlo Marchione, Petra Poláčková and David Russell.
Nichlas recieved 1. price at Aalborg International Guitarfestival youth competition in 2018 and in 2024 won the 3. price in the adult category. in 2023 he earned 1. price in the Erik Satie competition in collaboration with flutist, Sille Enevoldsen.
Besides performing as a soloist, Nichlas has extensive experience in various chamber music settings, performing with a diverse range of ensembles that include, soprano, mezzo-soprano, barytone, tenor, oboe, flute, trumpet, violin, accordion, double bass, guitar, cello and piano.
Nichlas has also premiered several contempoary works for solo guitar by composers such as Anton Lindström and Finn Mattingly.
His repertoire spans from emotionally evocative classical compositions to innovative ear catching jazz arrangements of popular songs.
